CNC Mill (VMC) Machinist / Programmer
Our extremely clean, well lit, and climate controlled Machine Shop has an opening for a CNC Mill (VMC) Machinist with programming capabilities who can work independently on second shift (Monday – Thursday 3:00 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.). Second shift employees are eligible for a $1.00 per hour shift differential in addition to their base hourly wage.
This position is responsible for producing metal parts to specifications using CNC machine tools. Must have the ability to create machine programs, perform basic machine set-up, make offsets in programs and perform quality audits and routine maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have a trade school degree in CNC machining and two years experience or five years of experience in lieu of the degree. Experience running a Mori Seiki Duravertical 5100 with standard items for a vertical milling center (VMC) is desirable. This person must be able to program using the controls on the machine and have a clear understanding of GD&T. The ability to use ESPRIT CAD/CAM is a plus. The ability to read blue prints, use general inspection equipment and lift up to 50 pounds is required.
Electro-Mechanical Application Engineer
Due to our continued growth, we have a great opportuntiy for an electrical / mechanical engineer to join our Customer Service group as an Applications Engineer. The successful candidate will assist customers and sales channel members in the proper selection of electrical and electro-mechanical products based on their application requirements; create and distribute product quotations to customers and sales channel members; and provide post sales support for customers and sales channel members for electrical control products and electro-mechanical actuator products, as required, to secure orders for Exlar products and services.
The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, a BSEE/ME or similar technical degree and at least 2 years of experience in applications or technical support for motion control products. CAD and Solid Modeling experience would be beneficial.
Product Designer - R&D
We are looking for a Product Designer - R&D in our Engineering Department. This individual will create Solid Works design models for product layouts and components, and create design drawings for product manufacturing. Responsibilities include: 1) Assist Product Development Engineer by performing computer aided design drafting of the company's engineering and production drawings; 2) create designs and details for effective economical production; 3) demonstrate knowledge and experience of new product designed for serial manufacture; 4) design, qualify and test parts and assemblies while working with manufacturing staff to maintain product development schedule; 5) develop detailed part drawings including all necessary information regarding materials, processes, dimensions and tolerances; 6) construct product assembly drawings from piece part drawings complete with bill of materials where appropriate; 7) stay technically current on drafting hardware, software, techniques and standards; 8) assure that engineering and production drawings are completed in accordance with the engineering documentation system; and 9) provide technical documentation for operating manuals, user manuals and other engineering or production literature as required.
Our ideal candidate will have completed a minimum two year comprehensive technical drafting program or have achieved an Associate Design Degree. A minimum of six years work experience with increasing levels of responsibility from entry and detail drafting to new product development design skills is essential. Experience working with manufacturing staff to assemble, qualify and test developed designs including building prototype assemblies is also necessary. Must be proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, DriveWorks knowledge is desired.
Quality Engineer
Exlar has an immediate opening for a talented Quality Engineer to join our organization. This individual will be responsible for assuring the highest level of Company product quality through the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of our quality systems. Responsibilities include: 1) Develop new processes and reconfigure existing processes for improved effectiveness and efficiency; 2) Maintain the Company's quality audit and reliability data utilizing statistical and graphing techniques to analyze and summarize the data; 3) Lead investigations into reported or observed quality problems, report findings and identify and implement corrective actions; 4) Work with suppliers to address quality issues and ensure appropriate corrective action; 5) Work with production personnel and Process Engineers to resolve production quality issues; 6) Develop product quality plans and associated processes relating to new product development and introduction; 7) Perform internal audits of the Company's quality processes and participate in external audits by registrars and customers; and 8) Participate in the development of product quality plans and related production assembly and test procedures assuring that product quality/reliability goals are met.
The ideal candidate will have a 4-year technical degree with at least 3 years of related experience. Quality auditor certification is preferred. Experience with ISO9001 required; other regulatory experience desired. Formal training and experience with quality system audits and statistical methods is required. Experience with electronic data collection and analysis tools is also necessary.
Planner/Scheduler - Machine Shop
We are looking to add a Planner/Scheduler for our rapidly expanding Machine Shop. The successful candidate will schedule equipment, shop personnel and supplier partners to meet lead time objectives and maximize equipment use. This individual will also purchase necessary materials and supplies for the Machine Shop. In addition, this person will create shop orders, BOM's routing and purchase orders to support schedules.
The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years Machine Shop scheduling experience and at least 3 years of materials and outside processes (grinding, plating, EDM, coatings, heat treating, etc.) purchasing experience. Qualified candidates will understand CNC turning and milling machine operations, have knowledge of metal materials, and have demonstrated proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
CNC Programmer
We are looking for a skilled CNC Programmer to join our quickly expanding Machine Shop. The successful candidate will develop and troubleshoot CNC programs for various lathes, mills and machining centers using Esprit CAM software. This individual will also work with Engineering to develop process capabilities and implement process improvements. Additional responsibilities include: design, fabricate and maintain tooling; create set-up sheets; log programs; troubleshoot problems; and assist CNC Machinists with tool selection and set-ups.
The ideal candidate will have Certification in Tool and Die or CAD/CAM Programming and at least two years of programming experience. Esprit programming experience is desirable. Must be familiar with all types of CNC machines and cutting tools. This individual must have the ability to read and interpret technical drawings of mechanical parts, the ability to calculate tolerances, and the ability to apply concepts of basic geometry and trigonometry. Position also requires a working knowledge of GDT and strong computer skills. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Mechanical Systems Engineer
Due to our continued growth, we are adding a Mechanical Systems Engineer to our organization. The successful candidate will support Exlar systems business development of electromechanical actuation systems from initial quoting through final delivery and on-site installation. They will develop and maintain best practices, processes and tools to support the engineering activities of the Systems Group business.
This person will design custom mechanical hardware including the creation of piece part and assembly drawings. They will also perform static and dynamic FEA on parts and systems and perform kinematic and dynamic simulations of electromechanical systems. This individual will perform thermal simulations of motors and electrical enclosures. The candidate must be proficient in the above by using SolidWorks CAD software.
This position will collaborate with other Exlar functions both in the systems business and Exlar overall to meet customer requirements (for both commercial and military applications). They will record and analyze data from electromechanical systems during testing to debug the application and verify system performance. This person will write test plans and reports for submission to commercial customers and government agencies. This individual will independently execute system level qualification tests. Execution of these tests may involve removal and installation of motors, linkages, etc. that may weigh up to 30 pounds.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering school with at least seven years of applicable experience within an industrial B2B environment. Based on scope of systems projects with the US Government and their prime contractors, the candidate must be a citizen of the United States. Must be proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Working knowledge and understanding of military / defense standards and other pertinent mechanical standards used in factory automation markets is desirable. Ability to mechanically assemble / disassemble precision fit hardware. Experience with electrical / electronic / electromechanical technology is desired.
Embedded Software Engineer
Our Engineering group is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our product development team. This person will have proven experience with real-time control systems.
This individual will collaborate with developers, product managers and customers in the development of new software features and applications. In addition, this individual will assist in the preparation and documentation of requirements and specifications, create efficient, high performance designs and code, create test plans and assist in testing. Other responsibilities include researching and applying the latest technologies in motion control and industrial network communications.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering with at least 3 - 5 years experience in developing industrial real-time applications. They must have a proven record of completing projects on time and to specification. In addition they will have experience with motor / motion control, and CAN, DeviceNet or TCP/IP. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
Designer Drafter
Our Process Engineering group has an immediate opening for a Designer Drafter.
This individual will design and publish 3D interactive and animation based internal work instructions, operating guides, technical manuals and related technical support documentation using 3D publishing software. The position requires working with 2D and 3D CAD mechanical drawings and models, digital photos, text files and related documentation and key frame timeline based animation. The position also requires interfacing with Design Engineering, Process Engineering and Production personnel to develop detailed manufacturing routings, work flow travelers and procedures for new and existing processes and operations. Current text based work instructions will require updating and integrating into the 3D based work instructions. The job will also require creating style templates and Standard Operating Procedures for creating new 3D work instructions and training materials.
Approximately 50% of the job may require developing technical manuals for new products to US military standards. The position will require reviewing and understanding these standards and insuring the documentation conforms to these standards.
Extensive time will be required working with production personnel detailing current work practices that are not documented, writing production travelers, taking digital photos of details of the parts and process steps. The job also requires creating and maintaining uniform terminology and operation descriptions.
Qualifications (Educational, Professional, Physical):
- 2-Year Degree in a related field with experience in 3D modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and 3D publishing (3DVia preferred).
- Must have a high level of self initiative and creativity.
- Requires knowledge of mechanical and assembly techniques and practices.
- Some experience working with wiring and circuit board assembly would be helpful.
- Requires the ability to use common hand tools such a wrenches, screwdrivers, and torque tools.
- Technical writing skills are necessary.
- Timeline based animation experience required.
- Experience using digital camera and photo editing is essential.
- Must be familiar with manufacturing routings, process work flow, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
CNC Lathe Operator/Set-up - 2nd Shift - $2,000 HIRING BONUS!!
