For instrumentation and control engineers, an electric actuator probably brings to mind an asynchronous electric motor and some form of gear reduction that slowly moves a valve.  Life cycles are short, response time is slow and overall performance is marginal when used for closed loop modulating control or high duty cycle valve automation applications.
